I was watching a program on the History channel last night, it was about cycles the earth goes through between hot and cold. It was relating the earths natural tendency toward this to the fact that we, mankind, might possibly be unnaturally increasing the heat cycle by our c02 gas creation -that we are causing Global Warming.What bothers me is that some portion of society, or the media, or both – has put the idea out to everyone else – that it is “all our fault” and we are “warming the earth and soon will destroy it”, by continued creation of C02 – Carbon Dioxide -on our part. Then there is the reaction TO that on the part of another portion of society which says they “don’t believe” in Global Warming.Both sides of this argument are irrational.Global Warming is not something you “believe in”. It happens, like gravity or numerous other laws of physics and nature, like the 4 seasons. Global warming cannot be due to human causes. Volcanoes produce more CO2 than all the human CO2 combined. Humans are actually one of the least contributors of CO2 in the world. THE largest contributor of CO2 is the oceans, they give off more CO2 than volcanoes and humans. This is whether we produce more C02 by driving a vehicle or decide to be good citizens and ride a Schwinn to work everyday.The history of the ice ages for the last 1 million years shows that they have 100,000-year cycles. We get 10,000 years of warm, then 90,000 years of ice age.
The ONLY thing – in my opinion which is debatable is – WHAT IS THE CAUSE? It is not little cars running around stinking things up. ( HOWEVER – we should look for alternatives to burning fossil fuel for other health and political reasons)What is debatable is “WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?”. There is a theory which says it occurs because of gravitational pull ON the earth from other planets. Namely Jupiter and Venus. Jupiter is a big daddy so it pulls on us, Venus is small but close so it pulls earth. Jupiter and Venus have a tendency to affect the earths TILT – its either – yes tilting toward the sun and orbiting closer to it, or its not, ( cold!). Does our fate lie in the hands of the Jupiter and Venus gods? If so – there’s nothing we can do, I guess except decide what your beliefs are on the hereafter.At least the thought of an ice age makes hell look all that more attractive – for those of you, ahem! sinners.  The next THEORY – which is the one that I like – give us more control:During the 10,000 year “warm period” for earth – the nice cozy one we are in now – the soils become “demineralized” and gradually due to reasons of soil stability – there are less and less and less plants. Not just because McDonalds and Burger King are bad for chopping down forests so they can “grow” their cows. 
When there is less plant life on the planet, there is less oxygen on the planet and more carbon dioxide. This “traps” heat from the sun. It gradually affects the worlds climate. When the difference in temperature BETWEEN the tropics and poles INCREASES, this causes more storms of every kind. Moisture from the storms goes into higher latitudes, and TURNS INTO ICE. Then we have another little ice age.Critical information here – during an ice age – the glaciers grind, grind, grind and make more minerals, more minerals in the soil make more plants, more plants make more oxygen, things chill out and we have nice California weather again.So – what is to be speculated on here is: Do the cycles of earths ice ages occur for the purpose of creating more minerals in the soil? It looks like it because that is the only product which really comes out of it. Therefore, by using rockdust in our farming methods – can we avert another ice age? Rockdust can be gotten anywhere, and it remineralizes soil, it has been shown to revitalize entire forest areas.
