Poetry In Motion - Part 1 of Fastback Resto
Poetry in motion…
This is stage one of the 1965 Fastback restoration we are doing for a customer. At this stage it is dismantled and the paint is nearly completely stripped off. This car was restored once before, and we were lucky – whoever restored it before did it correctly and used all the right parts.
Here is the engine. It is actually in really decent shape, needs cleaning, possible timing chain repair and we are rebuilding the carburetor…
Here is an interior shot. The entire interior will be replaced with new pony interior…
In stripping the paint, one of the most IMPORTANT things to do is make sure the paint stripper does NOT run to the edge of the panel or section you are working on. The reason is that it will dry, and then when it’s wet again from rain it will reactivate again and then creep back into the fresh paint.
Here is a picture of the old exhaust system which will certainly be upgraded for better proformance.
I will be getting the paint and interior colors finalized this week. The transmission is getting rebuilt right now. Stay tuned!
