R-MODEL The racing model GT350 was called the R model, “R” for race


ROUSH Jack Roush is an entrepreneur in Detroit who makes modified Mustangs. He has over 50 businesses, and is an avid racetrack sponsor. He also flys a P51 Mustang.


SHELBY : Former East Texas failed chicken farmer, sometime race driver who won the 24 Hours of LeMans for Aston Martin in 1959. Later went on to build Cobras and Shelby Mustangs.



SHINODA, A famous Japanese American designer. Larry Shinoda was a hot rodder just after the war, did a lot of Corvette designs for GM then came over to Ford in time to do the Boss 302.

TACH Tachometer or revolution counter

TRANS AM Back in the Sixties this was a sedan racing series. Mustangs raced in it when the notchbacks were considered four seater sedans

SPOILER A wing on the rear deck or ducktail that adds downforce to the car at speed

TELLTALE TACH A rev counter that can leave a needle pointing to the max rpm the car attained so you know who to blame when the engine blows


TERLINGUA A place in Texas that even buzzards wouldn’t go to, but Shelby once marketed some land there by holding the Terlingua Chili Cookoff. Later he and his friends invented the Terlingua Racing Team and the badge was everywhere




TURBOCHARGER A blower but derives its power from siphoning off some of the hot exhaust to drive an wheel


VORTECH A brand of supercharger that is available for Mustang
